Home of the UConn Huskies

Welcome to the home of the Northeast Huskies!

Affiliated with the UConn Huskies, we are a non-profit youth hockey association offering programs for children ages 3-18 years old.  Programs include travel teams from the Mite through Midget level, and a TYKES (Teaching Young Kids the Essentials of Skating) program.  The Northeast Huskies skate at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum on the UConn campus, where the Men's and Women's hockey teams skate.  The Northeast Huskies not only offer in season general skills clinics as well as goalie clinics that are hosted by the UConn Men's and Women's hockey teams but we have a wealth of talented coaches!

If you have a future hockey star in your family and want to learn more about our program, please click on the Learn to Play tab.

No prior skating experience is necessary for TYKES

Come check out our climate controlled rink at UConn and join us for some quality hockey!

The Skills Clinic (5/9-6/13) is designed to teach skills with a concentration on skating and hockey specific skills and awareness. Hard work is rewarded with a scrimmage at the end of each practice.  Drills and scrimmages match players of equal talent to ensure a safe and challenging game for all. Unlike a summer, day or overnight camp, which only lasts a week, this experience will help your child to play over the course of six weeks. This clinic helps each child to be a better player and not just brush up on some skills.

The Fall Conditioning Clinic (8/22-9/7)

These six sessions will be run like our conditioning clinics in the past; the entire session is predominantly skating. We will teach skating skills, and build endurance and strength for the upcoming season.

The coaching staff is often augmented by local High school coaches, College coaches and local College players. This summer will feature UConn Men’s Graduate Assistant Coach Tyler Helton.

GOALIES

Goalies will receive 1-on-1 instruction. They will also participate in all skating and conditioning drills.
